The Namesake: A Novel

The Namesake: A Novel
At first I was thrown from having to read the novel in the present tense, but it actually makes for a very appropriate way to tell the story of an Indian-American boy's life, growing up and trying to escape, or at least tolerate, the lifestyle and culture of his parents, who'd moved to the US from Calcutta. I could relate to many parts of the tale, as anyone from the "1.5 generation" knows.
